Mandatory payout Pick 6 carryover of $165K on Closing Day Monday at Saratoga Race Course

Robert Hines Aug 31 2025

Monday’s card at Saratoga Race Course will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $165,580 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Sunday’s 14-race program. The Closing Day program of the Saratoga summer meet features a mandatory payout of all pools.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $2,136.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.

Sunday’s Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 9 with a win from Sunrise [No. 13, $8.60] in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight on the Mellon turf with Ricardo Santana, Jr. aboard for Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, the trainer of Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup-winner Antiquarian who had three wins on the day.

Flavien Prat piloted the next winner as the Horacio De Paz-conditioned New York-bred Twenty Six Black [No. 5, $4.60*] captured the restricted Listed $135,000 Disco Partner, in Race 10. The next race saw Katie Davis visit the winner’s circle aboard Renew the Blue [No. 6, $33.60] in a six-furlong state-bred maiden claimer for conditioner David Donk, in Race 11.

In Race 12, Edgard Zayas navigated Navajo Warrior [No. 2, $3.30*] to victory in a one-mile starter optional claimer from the Wilson Chute for trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr. In Race 13, a seven-furlong claimer, Christopher Elliott prevailed aboard Brooklyn Dantz [No. 12, $91] for conditioner Marcelo Arenas.

With only 3-of-12 horses covered in the Race 14 finale, a 1 1/16-mile state-bred maiden claimer on the inner turf, the David Duggan-trained Mission Hill [No. 9, $17.80] triumphed with Kendrick Carmouche in the saddle, triggering the carryover.

Monday’s Pick 6 begins in Race 6 at approximately 2:55 p.m. Eastern on an 11-race program that features the Grade 1, $300,000 Spendthrift Hopeful in Race 9 and the Listed $135,000 Saranac in Race 10. First post is 12:05 p.m. Eastern.
