Nobutaka Tada, Managing Director of Hidetoshi Yamamoto’s stable, announced today that Mr. Yamamoto has donated $30,000.00 to The Belmont Child Care Association’s (“BCCA”) Anna House. After visiting Anna House, Mr. Yamamoto was so impressed by the early childhood education program and what The BCCA was doing for the children of the backstretch workers; he decided to make a donation. Mr. Tada said that Mr. Yamamoto “believes anyone can do anything for anybody and hopes others in the industry will follow his example and also donate to Anna House. This gives us the meaning of our journey to New York.” Casino Drive, a half-brother to 2006 Belmont Stakes winner Jazil and a three-quarter brother to 2007 Belmont winner Rags to Riches, was hoping to be the third consecutive foal of the Deputy Minister mare Better Than Honour to win the Belmont Stakes. Winner of the Grade 2 Peter Pan in only his second career start, he was forced to scratch out of the Belmont Stakes because of a bruised hoof. The Belmont Child Care Association is a not-for-profit-corporation established in December 1998 to create an on-site child care center, Anna House, at Belmont Park for the working families of New York Racing Association tracks. Families in New York’s horse racing industry face many challenges. Parents start their workday before sunrise, hours before local childcare centers are open. Also, given the nature of the industry, most parents must arrange for childcare seven days a week. For more information, visit: www.belmontchildcare.org/ |
