NYRA Seeks Workers For 140th Belmont Stakes Day | |

On Monday and Tuesday, April 21-22, the New York Racing Association will host the first of several open houses to recruit potential employees to work Belmont Stakes Day on Saturday, June 7. The Open House will be held from 4 p.m. – 7 p m. at Aqueduct Race Track, first floor clubhouse. The 140th running of the $1 million Belmont Stakes, held at Belmont Park, is the feature of New York’s biggest racing day. First race post for the 13-race Belmont Stakes card is noon. The Belmont Stakes will be race 11 at approximately 6:25 p.m. and the day’s final race will go to post at approximately 7:40 p.m. Candidates who are at least 16 years old with working papers are eligible to work as parking attendants and ushers. Mutuel clerks and admission cashiers candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have had previous experience working with money (clerks and cashiers are responsible for any shortages.) Additionally, NYRA will hire personnel for the cleaning department who are at least 18 years of age. NYRA will host other Open Houses at Aqueduct on Monday and Tuesday, April 28-29, also from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the first floor clubhouse. There will also be Open Houses at Belmont Park on Monday and Tuesday, May 5-6 and May 12-13 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the winners’ circle. NYRA is also looking for upstate applicants to work as mutuel clerks on Belmont Stakes Day, and will host an Open House at Saratoga Race Course, Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27 and May 3-4, at the paddock mutuel bay from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. All applicants must bring a photo ID (for example - driver's license, state ID, college ID) AND social security card or I-9 alternative (passport, birth certificate, right-to-work visa).
