The TOM FOOL HANDICAP is named for the Greentree Stable colorbearer who was champion two-year-old of 1951, and Handicap Champion and "Horse of the Year" in 1953. He is one of only four horses to ever win the "Handicap Triple" – the Metropolitan, Brooklyn, and Suburban handicaps - in one year. He was elected to racing's Hall of Fame at Saratoga in 1960.
The TOM FOOL was run at Aqueduct prior to 1977. Run as a handicap prior to 1979.
