The PILGRIM is named for the 1919 winner of the Remsen Stakes. Pilgrim was owned by Joseph E. Widener. Run in two divisions in 1979 and 1983. Run on the main track in 1983. Run at a mile and an eighth prior to 1991, in 1995, and from 1997 to the present. Run at a mile and a sixteenth from 1991 to 1994, and again in 1996. Run on the main track in 1996.
