The METROPOLITAN Handicap was run at Morris Park from 1891 to 1904 and at Aqueduct from 1960 to 1967, in 1969 and in 1975. Not run in 1895, 1911 and 1912. Run at a mile and a furlong prior to 1897. Dead Heat for win in 1905. Equipoise finished first in 1934, but was disqualified. The running of that race was part of the popular Broadway play "Three Men on a Horse".
