The FALL HIGHWEIGHT Handicap was inaugurated at Belmont Park in 1914. Now restricted to three year olds and up, this race was open to all ages prior to 1959. The inaugural running was won by the two year old filly Comely.
The Racing Secretary must assign at least 140 pounds to the top-weighted horse in this event.

The FALL HIGHWEIGHT Handicap was run at Belmont Park from 1914 to 1959, from 1963 to 1993. Run on the straight course prior to 1921, from 1926 to 1939, and from 1942 to 1957. Run in two divisions in 1976. In 1918, Fairy Wand finished first, but was disqualified.
